Rawaaopakonsel.ac.id, Jakarta – The International Seminar “Bridge to Justice: Cross-Border Perspectives on Constitutional Governance”, Jakarta (hybrid) 6-7 April 2026 in honors to 70 Years of dedication and service to Prof. Dr. H. Jimly Asshiddiqie, SH., MH.

Welcome to the International Seminar, “Bridge to Justice: Cross-Border Perspectives on Constitutional Governance.” We gather here at a moment in history, where the traditional boundaries of the nation-state are increasingly intersected by global challenges. In Southeast Asia, a region defined by its diverse political systems—ranging from constitutional monarchies to socialist republics—the constitution serves as more than just a legal document; it is the fundamental blueprint for social order and the primary safeguard of collective aspirations.

The “Bridge to Justice” represents our commitment to dialogue over isolation. While each nation maintains its unique legal heritage, the core tenets of constitutionalism—the limitation of power and the protection of fundamental liberties—provide a common language for us to share. This seminar seeks to explore how different jurisdictions within Southeast Asia and beyond interpret these tenets, fostering a comparative environment where we can learn from each other’s successes and setbacks in the pursuit of a stable legal order.

In the current global climate, constitutional governance faces unprecedented pressure. From the rapid integration of digital technologies and AI into the legal sphere to the shifting dynamics of regional security, our “supreme laws” are being tested like never before. This seminar will delve into the complexities of judicial independence, the evolving role of constitutional courts, and the mechanisms through which the rule of law can be upheld in an era of rapid socio-political change.

Furthermore, we recognize that justice is rarely a solitary pursuit. By focusing on cross-border perspectives, we acknowledge that the legal developments in one neighbor often ripple across the entire region. Whether we are discussing environmental regulations, human rights standards, or trade governance, a constitutional framework that looks outward is essential for regional stability. Our goal over these sessions is to identify the “common threads” that can strengthen the fabric of justice across the Southeast Asian landscape.

As we begin this intellectual journey, we invite you to engage with candor and curiosity. The “bridge” we build today is made of ideas, arguments, and shared experiences. We hope that the insights generated here will not remain within these walls but will instead inform policy, inspire legal reform, and ultimately contribute to a more transparent, accountable, and just society for all. Thank you for being a vital part of this essential conversation.
