Announcement of International Community Service, @Darul Ulum Ammesangeng Home of UNESCO Geopark Maros-Pangkep

Rawaaopakonsel.ac.id, Ammesangeng – We are thrilled to announce the upcoming International Community Service program, hosted at the prestigious Darul Ulum Ammesangeng, located within the heart of the UNESCO Geopark Maros-Pangkep. This initiative brings together students, educators, and community leaders from across the globe to engage in meaningful cultural exchange and sustainable development. Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

Lembaga Teknologi Mahasiswa Islam, Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam, Branch of East Makassar will serve the organizing committee. The collaborative community service will come together with IBK NITRO, BOLT, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

The collaboration reaches new heights with the official participation of the Institut Agama Islam (IAI) Rawa Aopa Konawe Selatan, which joins as a partner for this international program. Their involvement is instrumental, as it brings a dedicated focus to the social-religious pillar, ensuring that the community service efforts are grounded in spiritual values and social ethics. By integrating their expertise in Islamic studies and community development, IAI Rawa Aopa will play a role in facilitating interfaith dialogue and moral guidance, truly enriching the program’s holistic approach to serving the local population within the UNESCO Geopark.

Set against the backdrop of world-class karst landscapes, this program aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application while honoring the rich traditions of the South Sulawesi region. The core mission of this year’s service project is to foster environmental stewardship and educational empowerment. Participants will work side-by-side with local residents on various initiatives, ranging from ecological preservation workshops to English literacy programs for youth.

By integrating global perspectives with local wisdom, we aim to create a lasting impact that preserves the unique biodiversity of the Geopark while providing the community at Darul Ulum Ammesangeng with new tools for a prosperous, interconnected future. Beyond the work itself, this program offers an unparalleled opportunity for cultural immersion.

Darul Ulum Ammesangeng serves as a vibrant cultural hub where visitors can experience the profound hospitality and spiritual heritage of the local community. From exploring the ancient caves and towering limestone peaks of the Pangkep region to participating in traditional ceremonies, volunteers will gain a deep appreciation for the symbiotic relationship between the people and their majestic natural environment.

Collaboration is the heartbeat of this international endeavor. By partnering with local stakeholders and international organizations, we are building a network of global citizens dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This program is not just a short-term visit; it is a commitment to a long-term partnership that values mutual respect and shared growth. We believe that through collective effort, we can protect our world’s natural wonders while uplifting the communities that call them home.

We invite all passionate individuals and institutional partners to join us in this transformative journey. Whether you are contributing your expertise in conservation, education, or social entrepreneurship, your presence will help make this International Community Service a landmark success. Together, we will leave steps of friendship and progress beneath the shadows of the Maros-Pangkep towers. Join us at Darul Ulum Ammesangeng, where global service meets timeless heritage.
